St.Nilo's Abbey in Grottaferrata

It was founded in 1004 by Abbot Nilus along with St. Bartholomew. The external structure is the original of 1004, thanks to the restoration carried out during the twentieth century, and has a facade with a large rose window and Arabic decorations. Interior is Baroque and houses along the aisle, the Cappella Farnese finely painted with stories of St. Nilus. The abbey houses the sculpture "Mary and Child" by Gianlorenzo Bernini.

Castel Gandolfo

Place of the Pope's summer residence, it owns sacred architecture and art as the Collegiata Pontificia of St. Thomas from Villanova dating from the seventeenth century and designed by Gianlorenzo Bernini, several Pontifical Villas from which surrounding park takes name, the Pontifical Palace with the Private Chapel. With its long history that has its roots in ancient Rome you can find the ruins as those of the Villa di Domiziano or aristocratic villas such as Villa Torlonia.

Albano

Lazio Albano lies just few kilometers from the ruins of Alba Longa, epic pre-Roman and Roman settlement of which there are many testimonies. It has been the residence of nobles, prelates and nobles you can visit Villa Altieri, eighteenth-century dwelling of Cardinal Altieri, Villa Doria Pamphili, surrounded by a beautiful park, the ruins of the Villa of Gneo Pompeo Magno, which extend for more than 9 hectares. You can also visit the medieval district of Cellomaio, the Baths of Caracalla, St. Peter's the Apostle.

Frascati

Frascati is surely the most evocative and rich town of the Castelli Romani. A few steps away from La Finestra Su Roma, St. Peter's the Apostle, which houses several works of art, deserves a visit. Girolamo Fontana, author of the Baroque facade, he also created the so-called "Fountain" always on St. Peter's Square. Frascati is home to many other places of interest such as Aldobrandini Villa, residence of the seventeenth century, set in a beautiful park.

Rome

You can reach the center of Rome, Termini Train Station, in half an hour with links - close and fast - to the Eternal City. Vatican, the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Cathedral will be one step, and also Fori Imperiali and Classical Rome, including Via Veneto, Trastevere and Testaccio.
